Choose the 5.0Ah, the lightest pack, for drills, drivers, lights and trim tools and for overhead work where weight matters most. Choose the 8.0Ah for saws, grinders and blowers: it has the most runtime and handles continuous high-draw work that drains smaller packs fast. Within a brand, both share the same mount and voltage; the 8.0Ah sits taller, so each brand's verified tool list marks the few tools it isn't listed for.
