Bosch 18V battery compatibility

For Bosch's own blue 18V packs, largely yes: Bosch says its 18V batteries are compatible with Bosch 18V tools and chargers, and Bosch Professional in Europe says every pack in the 18V system has fitted every tool since 2008. The exceptions are Bosch's own: its per-tool battery lists name specific Bosch packs, its 12Ah GBA18V120 is sold for PROFACTOR tools only, and the GRL18V-3-31G and GRL18V-4-34CVG rotary lasers and GLL330-80CG line laser take packs of 4.0Ah or less. CEENR packs use the same blue 18V slide. The 8.0Ah uses larger 21700 cells and sits taller, so we don't list it for tools whose pack sits under a battery cover or in a recessed bay, such as the GLI18V-1200C and GLI18V-2200C floodlights, the GPB18V-2C and GPB18V-5C radios, the GAS18V-3 wet/dry vac and the REVOLVE4000 rotary lasers — we haven't fit-checked it there.

No. Green Bosch Home & Garden tools, sold in Europe and elsewhere, run on the 18V POWER FOR ALL system with PBA 18V packs; blue Bosch 18V (Bosch Professional) tools run on the Professional 18V system. Bosch says the two battery systems are not compatible and will not be unified. CEENR Bosch packs are built for the blue system — the one Bosch sells in the US.

They fit. Bosch builds its PROFACTOR tools to take full advantage of its high-output CORE18V packs and recommends those packs for maximum performance (on the GKS18V-25GC saw, the GBA18V60, GBA18V80 or GBA18V120), but its battery lists for those tools include standard 18V packs too. Bosch says EXPERT tools accept regular 18V packs and reach full power with an EXPERT battery. Bosch rates their maximum performance on its own high-output packs; we haven't published performance data for CEENR packs in these tools, and we haven't yet bench-tested how tools that read the pack classify a CEENR pack.

CEENR Bosch packs are lithium-ion 18V slide packs. Charge them on the CEENR 6A fast charger for Bosch 18V; they also seat on blue Bosch 18V chargers such as the GAL18V-40 and BC1880, though Bosch's charger manuals approve only Bosch and AMPShare packs. Bosch's PB360C, PB360D and PB360S Power Box radios charge the pack in their bay on AC and Bosch says to use only Bosch batteries there, so we don't list them.

Bosch numbers the same tool differently by market — the US GDR18V-1800 impact driver is the European GDR 18V-200 — so this list shows US codes and our German page shows European ones. US listings add a suffix to the tool code for the package: the bare GSR18V-800C drill is sold as the GSR18V-800CN, kits as the GSR18V-800CB24 and similar; the tool itself carries a 10-digit part number.

If it's a blue Bosch 18V tool with a lithium-ion slide battery, it takes a Bosch 18V pack (Bosch Professional in Europe dates the system to 2008).
