FAQ

Makita battery questions

Are Makita batteries interchangeable with other brands?

No. Each tool brand uses its own battery footprint, contacts and latch, so a Makita 18V LXT battery, Makita's own or a CEENR replacement, fits 18V LXT tools and not other brands' tools. CEENR's cross-brand option is the PDnation™ Universal Power Platform: with the Makita 18V LXT Brand Mount, one PDnation battery runs the tools listed on that mount's page, and with another brand's mount, that brand's tools. A Brand Mount works only with a PDnation battery; it does not put a Makita battery on another brand's tool.

Are all Makita 18V LXT batteries interchangeable?

Almost. Makita says 18V LXT batteries are fully compatible with LXT products, 18V X2 (36V) tools included, but its 4.0Ah-and-larger packs, and CEENR packs built on the same housing, only fit tools with a star symbol or a yellow battery plate. 18V LXT packs do not fit 14.4V LXT, 12V max CXT or 40V max XGT tools, which use their own packs. The verified tool list is at ceenr.com/compatibility/makita-18v-lxt/.

Which size Makita 18V LXT battery should I get: 5.0Ah, 6.0Ah or 8.0Ah?

All three use the same Makita 18V LXT slide and voltage; a higher capacity just runs longer between charges. The 6.0Ah is the best balance of runtime, weight and price for drills, drivers and impact tools; the 8.0Ah gives 33% more runtime than the 6.0Ah for grinders and blowers; the 5.0Ah is the lightest pack, for overhead work. The taller 8.0Ah is not listed for tools that close a cover over the battery, such as radios and mowers, or for some circular and jig saws; check your model at ceenr.com/compatibility/makita-18v-lxt/ first.

Can I charge a CEENR replacement battery on my Makita charger?

Yes. CEENR replacement batteries for Makita 18V LXT charge on the Makita charger you already own, so you do not need a new charger. It also works the other way: the CEENR 6A fast charger for Makita 18V LXT charges 18V LXT slide batteries from 1.5Ah to 8.0Ah, Makita's own or CEENR, and a 6.0Ah pack is ready in roughly an hour.

What is the difference between a CEENR replacement battery, a PDnation battery and the USB-C power adapter?

A CEENR replacement battery is a drop-in pack for Makita 18V LXT tools and has no USB port. A PDnation™ battery, from CEENR's Universal Power Platform, has two-way USB-C built in, so it is a power bank on its own, and with the Makita 18V LXT Brand Mount (sold separately) it runs the tools listed on that mount's page. The 45W USB-C power adapter is not a battery: it clips onto a Makita 18V LXT slide battery (1.5Ah to 8.0Ah), Makita's own or CEENR, to charge phones, tablets and USB-C laptops.

Can I use a Makita 18V battery as a power bank?

Yes, with the CEENR 45W USB-C power adapter for Makita 18V LXT. It clips onto an 18V LXT slide battery from 1.5Ah to 8.0Ah, Makita's own or CEENR, and turns it into a two-way power bank: a 45W USB-C Power Delivery port and a USB-A port charge phones, tablets and USB-C laptops. Plug a USB-C PD charger into the same USB-C port and it recharges the battery the adapter is clipped onto.

What can the CEENR 150W inverter run from a Makita 18V battery?

It runs small electronics that together draw 150W or less: a laptop and monitor, an LED work light, a small fan, a Wi-Fi router or modem, and phone, camera and battery chargers. The inverter clips onto a Makita 18V LXT slide battery, Makita's own or CEENR, and turns it into a standard US 120V / 60Hz AC outlet; a bigger battery runs your devices longer. It is not for high-watt appliances such as space heaters, kettles, microwaves, coffee makers or hair dryers.

Are CEENR batteries made by Makita?

No. CEENR is an independent battery brand. Its replacement batteries for Makita 18V LXT are engineered to work as direct replacements in Makita tools and are not manufactured by, sold by or affiliated with Makita. Each pack comes with a 3-year limited warranty and a 30-day return window.
