Porter-Cable 20V MAX battery compatibility

Porter-Cable says its 4.0Ah PCC685L pack works with all Porter-Cable 20V MAX tools, and its manuals list the PCC680L, PCC681L and PCC685L packs across the line — newer ones add the 2.0Ah PCC682L — including the 2022–23 tools such as the brushless PCCS300 reciprocating saw and PCCF920 impact wrench, and the PCCE720 oscillating tool, which is sold as "PORTER CABLE V20*". CEENR 5.0, 6.0 and 8.0Ah packs use the same 20V MAX slide; we list 43 verified models below, across 13 categories, each checked against Porter-Cable's own manuals and product pages. Exceptions: Porter-Cable's older 18V tools and Craftsman V20 tools take other packs, and we don't list the taller 8.0Ah for the radios, the speaker, the task light and the wet tile saw, which seat the pack in a battery port, roll cage or base pocket it may not clear.

What does not fit
- Porter-Cable 18V tools (PC18B and PC18BLX packs) — a different battery system; some still carry a PCC model number, such as the PCC475 18V clampsaw
- Craftsman V20 tools, the CMCM300 twin of the PCCM300 cut-off tool included, and BLACK+DECKER and Stanley FatMax 20V MAX tools — their manuals list only their own packs
- Porter-Cable 8V MAX tools such as the PCC842L screwdriver
FAQ
Do all Porter-Cable 20V MAX batteries fit all Porter-Cable 20V MAX tools?
For Porter-Cable's own packs, yes: Porter-Cable says its 4.0Ah PCC685L works with all Porter-Cable 20V MAX tools, and the tool manuals list Porter-Cable's own packs — the PCC680L, PCC681L, PCC682L and PCC685L in most — with no per-tool limits. CEENR packs use the same slide. The 4.0Ah PCC685L is the largest pack Porter-Cable lists. The CEENR 8.0Ah uses larger 21700 cells and sits taller, so we don't list it for the PCCR701 and PCC771 radios, the PCC772 speaker, the PCCL500 task light or the PCC780 wet tile saw, which seat the pack in a battery port, roll cage or base pocket the taller pack may not clear.
Are Porter-Cable "V20" tools the same as Craftsman V20?
No. Porter-Cable sells its PCCE720 oscillating tool as "PORTER CABLE V20*", but its manual lists the Porter-Cable 20V MAX packs PCC680L to PCC685L, not Craftsman packs. The brushless PCCM300 cut-off tool has a Craftsman twin, the CMCM300, whose manual lists only Craftsman V20 packs, and adapter makers sell separate adapters between the two systems. For a Porter-Cable tool, buy a Porter-Cable 20V MAX pack; for a Craftsman V20 tool, a Craftsman V20 pack.
Will they charge on my Porter-Cable charger?
CEENR Porter-Cable packs are lithium-ion 20V MAX slide packs: they charge on Porter-Cable 20V MAX chargers such as the PCC692L and PCC699L, and on the CEENR 6A fast charger for Porter-Cable 20V MAX. The PCCR701 jobsite radio also charges the pack inside the radio when it is plugged in; we haven't tested CEENR packs on that built-in charger, so charge them on a stand-alone charger.
Do 20V MAX batteries fit older Porter-Cable 18V tools?
No. Porter-Cable's older 18V tools use other packs (PC18B NiCd and PC18BLX lithium-ion), and Porter-Cable support says 18V and 20V batteries aren't cross-compatible. A few 18V tools still carry a PCC model number, such as the PCC475 clampsaw, so check the voltage on the tool. We don't list BLACK+DECKER or Stanley FatMax 20V MAX tools either: their manuals list only their own packs, and owners report those packs are keyed differently from Porter-Cable's.
My tool isn't on the list — will the battery still fit?
If it's a Porter-Cable 20V MAX tool with a removable slide battery, it takes a 20V MAX pack. We list the models we could check against Porter-Cable's manuals and product pages, including kit-only tools such as the PCC661 and PCC671 saws, tools sold mainly at Tractor Supply such as the PCCD750 right-angle drill and PCCF940 impact wrench, and a few discontinued ones. The tool itself carries the catalog number (PCC601); kits add a suffix (PCC601LA, PCC601LB) and bare tools a B (PCC670B). We found no 20V outdoor tools in Porter-Cable's catalog. Not sure?
